<image:title>About - Scott Reid</image:title>
<image:caption>(pictured here with Stephanie Reid) So… a few tidbits about me and Steph ABOUT SCOTT Well… Most of our stories are written in the books displayed on this site, so I’ll spare the long details and stick to some basics; and should we ever meet, you will have a little head start. BY WAY OF EDUCATION: I somehow–with much grace–graduated from Ledford Sr. High School (nestled in the suburb community of Wallburg, NC). I then spent a year at Piedmont Bible College (now Carolina University), followed by a year and a half at Indiana Wesleyan University (where I was placed on academic suspension lol) and managed to cram my four-year ministry degree into what became a 13-year journey (completed online through Liberty University), culminating in a Bachelors degree in Religion & Philosophy. From there, finally having become a decent student and loving to read and write, I completed a Master of Arts in Theological Studies as well as a Master of Divinity (also in Theology) from Liberty University. BY WAY OF VOCATIONAL MINISTRY: From the age of eighteen to the present, I have worked with and pastored teenagers and college-aged students. Having served at mostly smallish churches: Samaritan Baptist Church (NC) // Mt. Olive UMC (IN) // Mt. Pleasant & Pinewoods UMC (NC) // Christ Wesleyan Church (NC) // Abbotts Creek Baptist Church (NC) // First Wesleyan Church (NC), we have cherished the opportunities to work with and love and serve our communities and faith families over the years, and we hold them each still very close to the heart. Being ordained through the North Carolina SBC, I have also attempted church planting–succeeding poorly at two solid attempts ;)–but so very, very grateful for the fellow travelers who walked with us in those days! (No regrets, friends…) I have also founded and been president of this little ministry non-profit (1999-present)–all that is 121 Inc. Begun as a local youth ministry and being led over the years to now focus on domestic missions and discipling ventures, we have held a candle for it for two and a half decades now. Stephanie Reid (my wife, will get to her and the family next…) is an unbelievable and altogether lovable partner in these ventures. If you ever have the opportunity to travel with us, you will learn what I mean. These days, more than anything else, we’re writing and focusing on the things you’re reading about on this site. BY WAY OF FAMILY: I am thrilled to say that I married my high school sweetheart, Stephanie Coleson Reid, in August of 1994. When I grow up, I want to love Jesus and others as purely as she does!!! (lol…is that enough???) She is my writing partner, with whom you will become well-acquainted as the Jack & Jill books are released. She is also the mother of our four children: Tsion Scott (23 years old)–married to the beautiful Kristen Reid–both currently serving Door of Hope church in Portland, OR, and have recently become the proud parents of our beautiful baby grandgirl, Dottie (and now another on the way!!!) // Salem Mark (21 years old) an anointed song writer and musician, lead guitar for indie band Sophia, currently serves a local coffeeshop as well as Trader Joe’s as the friendliest barista and customer service guy you’ve ever met// Bethlehem Hope (19 years old) currently creatively and enthusiastically serving as a domestic missionary with Circuit Riders/YWAM, her aim is to know God and make Him known on college campuses throughout the US!// Aiden Journey (16 years old)–has been the “fire” (the meaning of his namesake) we’ve needed for our journey–the swiss army knife of the family–engineering, musical, creative. Forever enamored with our children and unashamedly will tell all that God is doing in their lives! BY WAY OF SONSHIP TO THE FATHER: I became a son in the Kingdom of Yahweh at the age of five. Seated at my parents’ kitchen table with Pastor Danny Smith (Samaritan Baptist Church) over a plate of chocolate chip cookies, I received Jesus as Lord and Savior. However, it would not be until the age of sixteen that I would begin to press into what my sonship really meant. While visiting Steph at a summer youth camp, the speaker asked the question: “How much does it cost to become a follower of Christ???” He answered the question by saying: “Everything.” That night, Jesus won my heart for good. Weeping in the back seat of my future in-laws’ car on the ride home, I knew that everything had just changed for me. Philippians 1:21 would become my life verse: “To live is Christ and to die is gain…” to which I have attached the following–There is nothing else. And…it is true, friend. When we follow Jesus closely enough and for long enough, we tend to say like Peter, “Where else could we go?…You have the words of life.” (John 6:68). Think that’s about it……. AND ABOUT STEPH… Stephanie is the daughter of Steve and Vangie Coleson (both now in heaven) and wife of Scott Reid (for thirty years and counting!) BY WAY OF EDUCATION: Stephanie also graduated from the small NC high school where they met. She holds a Bachelors degree in Christian Education from Indiana Wesleyan University & Master of Arts in Theological Studies as well as Master of Divinity in Theology, both from Liberty University. BY WAY OF VOCATION: Stephanie spent nearly ten years serving a local Christian school, teaching many subjects and grade levels as well as serving as the school guidance counselor. She acquired licensure as a CNA and served in an emergency department at a hospital briefly as well as working many years as a private caregiver. She is a piano instructor and has spent time in recent years as a baker and barista as well as serving in other customer service roles. She has said she is embarrassed by her lengthy and varied resumé, but definitely believes that she has been lovingly guided and led to many differing work experiences that have formed her and her gifts. (Oh, and also, she guided the homeschooling of our kids!!) All along the way she has been Scott’s true partner in the ministry ventures of 121. She is an invaluable asset to the ladies who have worshiped and travelled with us down through the years. Stephanie is a creative by nature and gifted communicator; particularly through writing. Scott and Steph’s writing projects are truly collaborative efforts. BY WAY OF FAMILY: See Scott’s bio above! BY WAY OF DAUGHTERSHIP TO THE FATHER: Stephanie came into relationship with Jesus through the care of her grandmother at the age of five. Her life with the Father has been an intentional one from that day until now. Intimacy with her heavenly Dad is her passion and obvious daily pursuit. She lives Philippians 1:21–to live is Christ, to die is gain. In all things, Christ preeminent. Col. 1:27!!</image:caption>

<image:title>Jack & Jill - Introducing Jack & Jill</image:title>
<image:caption>It really is hard to contain our excitement for this series. We simply can’t wait to introduce you to the Island of Broadbay, where so many beautiful characters will find their true identities in Jesus, where they will see their stories the way the Father sees them!!! As mentioned in other places, these are case studies using the tools from Going In Circles and Actually Getting Somewhere and Still Going In Circles and Getting Somewhere. Each book will follow Jack and Jill as they walk with fellow pilgrims into their freedom in Christ, followed by a practical treatise on each topic addressed. In the future, this will be the page where these titles will be displayed. We’re thinking this could be an open-ended task, spanning many years and many, many separate volumes! We are hard at work on the first four of the series now. Jack & Jill – A Love Story What does the Love of an infinite Being look and feel like? Do our modern conceptions of love fit the reality??? This first volume of the Jack & Jill series will address this all-important question. If we fail to understand at the very beginning what the reality of love is, we will never comprehend or have a way to receive what Yahweh the Father; Jesus, the Son and Groom; and the Holy Spirit, the empowering indwelling Presence, are to us. We will be lost in vague, mostly untrue concepts and so find ourselves frustrated, afraid, angry, and lost. The Love Story of Yahweh for His creation has something so much bigger–more intimate-in mind. It is concrete–tangible–able to be held and never lost. Can’t wait for you to see it!!! Jack’s Very Long, Very Desperate, Really Dark Night How do you process with a good Father when the lights turn off and all of life with Him feels like a cheat; a betrayal of trust; a desertion of His promises and character? Jack’s Very Long, Very Desperate, Really Dark Night, is a trek in and through the Dark Night of the Soul. Holding on for dear life; remembering the things that are true; learning what a “turned page life” (Jn. 6:68) looks and feels like. It won’t be pretty. It won’t bother with the veneer of civility. It’s a long, hard wrestle. We’ll acknowledge the fact, and come out something other on the other side. Jack & Jill - The Honored Pawn George Otis Jr. writes in God’s Trademarks, “Many people talk about promoting the Kingdom, but what they really hope is that the Holy Spirit will promote them.” It’s a subtle trap that must be seen for what it is; a motive for holding and securing significance. Jack & Jill - The Honored Pawn is about our aching need for significance and our darkened motives for why we think what we think and do what we do to achieve our heart’s desires. Jack & Jill - It’s Not Fair Again, the reality of Yahweh in the created world will not be what many of us expect to find, but if we align ourselves with it, contentment and joy will be our reward! The promised utopias of today’s culture have come wrapped in the deceptive lure of coveting. Equality by same shatters all foundations for contentment sowing division in the land. Jack & Jill - It’s Not Fair, will point us back to the complimentary mosaic the Body of the Living Creative Christ is in her glorious reality.</image:caption>

<image:title>Featured - Deep Purpose in the Waiting</image:title>
<image:caption>Why do you say, Jacob, and you assert, Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord, And the justice due me escapes the notice of my God”? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives strength to the weary, And to the one who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary –Isaiah 40:27-31 The first in the Going in Circles volumes leading up to the Jack & Jill series. Learning the lessons gleaned from the repeated processes of the Father in His kids’ lives. From exhaustion to renewed strength–flying, running, walking–flying, running, walking–flying, running, walking–learning the immense value and purpose for the waiting–living out the truths of James 1:2-4, counting the trials as joy in view of the benefit set before us. No matter the season you find yourself in these days, you can know the Father is doing something significant in it all–not wasting a moment of it! If you find yourself in an insufferable limbo–unwanted wilderness–dry, barren season, this book is for you. Hoping you’ll grab it with a journaling pen and highlighter in hand. Consider these pages well and embrace the circling journey ahead. P.S. Click on the cover image to get your copy.</image:caption>
